Cameron Campbell promoted to Fairy Pools Facility Supervisor

Cameron Campbell, an Isle of Skye local, born and brought up in Dunvegan, is extremely excited to have been promoted to Fairy Pools Facility Supervisor at the Fairy Pools Car Park and Toilets, near Carbost, one of the busiest international visitor destinations on the island.

Starting his new role in April 2024 Cameron Campbell said: “Having worked for OATS as a casual car park operative at the Fairy Pools Facility for three seasons I was keen to progress in a full-time role and to take on more responsibility.

“As the new Facility Supervisor, I will continue to work alongside the casual and seasonal staff, maintaining the cleanliness of the car park, toilets, and facilities, ensuring equipment and infrastructure are in top condition. I will also be responsible for managing supplies, maintaining the health and safety standards on site and building and maintaining positive relationships with staff, stakeholders and visitors.”

As a seasonal car park operative Cameron’s work onsite involved providing a service to car park patrons, providing information, managing safe parking, maintaining the toilet facilities, assisting with vehicle breakdowns and being a safe point of contact.

The staff team also help sustain the environment, keeping the car park facility and access path, litter and waste-free, giving advice to visitors regarding animals and livestock on the Glen, and asking them to stick to the footpath and use the viewpoints.

Cameron added: “Working at the Fairy Pools is amazing as you are in one of Skye’s tourist hotspots. There is always a great buzz around the place and we meet people from all over the world. We also face challenges too, but we work as a team and manage it together. I especially love the fact that the job holds freedom and variety, and I am outdoors with the most spectacular views.”
